An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and qualified scientist to join our regulatory toxicology team in Gosport, near Portsmouth, as a Project Licence Holder.

You will be joining an independent contract testing laboratory at a time of significant growth, with a dynamic team that combines impeccable scientific credentials with a passion for animal welfare and implementation of the 3 Rs.

We are expanding our testing portfolio and in your role as a Project Licence Holder you will have an unusual opportunity for professional growth through involvement in a variety of projects, processes and regulatory toxicological assessments.

The role
As a Project Licence Holder you will work with our team of scientists and technicians to ensure our in vivo laboratory assays and tests are carried out in compliance with the Home Office project licence, the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, GMP regulations, and the policies and procedures of our internal Quality System. 

You will take ownership of projects and communicate with our clients at every stage to meet requirements on time, budget and quality, and ultimately delivering results that can be trusted.

What you will be doing
•    Holding project and personal licences for the company and undertaking, directing, and managing related routine and advanced technical procedures and project work in accordance with the project licence
•    Seeking and following advice from the NVS, NACWO and NIO and ensuring work is carried out in accordance with the 3 Rs
•    Collating, reviewing and authorising data for reports and records
•    Supporting the preparation of quotations and budgets
•    Providing technical and scientific support and training to laboratory staff
•    Maintaining external accreditations such as AAALAC, Ecovardis
•    Other related duties as required and/or assigned

What we expect from you
•    Minimum 5 years of experience, Home Office E2PPL holder, with at least 2 years as a personal licence holder and minimum of 1 year as project licence holder with rodent assays
•    Animal welfare champion, understanding that the success of our business and our clients is linked to how we treat the animals in our care
•    Thorough understanding of GMP regulations
•    Outstanding time management, accurate record keeping and computer literacy skills
•    Evidence of effective communication skills, written and oral, demonstrated by examples of project designs, written reports, presentations
