An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and qualified scientist to join our regulatory toxicology team in Gosport, near Portsmouth, as a Personal Licence Holder.
You will be joining an independent contract testing laboratory at a time of significant growth, with a dynamic team that combines impeccable scientific credentials with a passion for animal welfare and implementation of the 3Rs.
We are expanding our testing portfolio and in your role as a Personal Licence Holder you will have an unusual opportunity for professional growth through involvement in a variety of projects, processes and regulatory toxicological assessments.
The role
As a Personal Licence Holder you will work with our team of scientists and technicians to ensure our in vivo laboratory assays and tests are carried out in compliance with the Home Office personal licence, the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, GMP regulations, and the policies and procedures of our internal Quality System.
What you will be doing
- Holding a personal licence undertaking routine and advanced technical procedures and projects
- Seeking and following advice from the NVS, NACWO. Project License Holder and NIO and ensuring work is carried out in accordance with the 3Rs
- Providing support and training to laboratory staff
- Other related duties as required and/or assigned
- Work shifts as part of a rota system, to include nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays
What we expect from you
- Hold a Home Office E1 & L / PIL A&B license, ideally to include rodents and some experience of IP injecting
- Thorough understanding of GMP regulations
- Outstanding time management, accurate record keeping and computer literacy skills
- Good communication skills both written and oral
